Outside the Box Development Support were awarded funding to run warm spaces and offer support to Moray communities impacted by the cost of living and climate crises.

Warm spaces were established in Burghead, Hopeman and Spynie over the winter months of 2023. The organisation collaborated with Hopeman Community Bus to provide free transport to warm space users, thereby reducing inequality, isolation, and local carbon emissions. The bus acted as a mobile-hub, offering a warm space, advice and support to those most in need.

Outside the Box Development Support also worked with local agencies like Moray Citizen’s Advice Bureau, REAP and Zero Carbon Moray to offer advice sessions and practical solutions to tackle cost of living and climate crises. Through these partnerships they provided:

  • access to food, minimise landfill and CO2 emissions by using community larder, food share schemes and community meals.

  • information about energy consumption, short-term winter solutions and longer-term renewables.

  • social connections and improved wellbeing among the community.
