£5,000.00
Findhorn Village Centre and Hostel was awarded funding to install an air source heat pump at the Lobster Pot.
The Lobster Pot at the village centre is used for accommodation and as meeting and training space, and as such needed to be kept warm throughout the day. However the Lobster Pot was reliant on electric underfloor heating, which was both expensive to run and inefficient.
The rising costs of heating the village centre had increased to a point where keeping the hostel and Lobster Pot open over the winter was no longer financially viable.
The main centre building already had air source heating and solar panels for water and PV panels, and the new air source heat pump brought the Lobster Pot in line with the existing system.
The air source heat pump provided a greener solution which will also be more economical and efficient, thereby reducing costs and creating a better user experience. The space should now be usable throughout the winter, especially for small groups or individuals, providing affordable accommodation all year round.
