Logie Timber Processing and Solar PV

Logie Timber is a new and developing rural business with the potential to develop new local markets for timber processing.

This project enabled the business to purchase three items of modern milling equipment that will expand the production capacity for converting softwood and hardwood logs into high quality furniture grade wood and other new products.

The project also enabled the processing activities of the mill to be carbon neutral through the installation of solar PV panels on the roof of the newly constructed timber framed sawmill building. The project contributed towards a low carbon economy by replacing imported products, thus reducing ‘woodmiles’, utilising waste material through collaboration and bringing under managed woodlands into production through development of new products.
