Moray Foodbank were awarded funding to run the Moray Poverty Conference. A free event open to the public, the conference featured a variety of speakers in addition to workshops, market stalls and networking opportunities.
Moray is often thought of as an affluent area and does not feature highly on SIMD (Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation) data. However, in rural areas deprivation is dispersed, tending to affect individual households rather than communities and as a result, tends to be hidden. This conference was designed to raise awareness of the issue in Moray and begin discussions into a co-ordinated, partnership approach supporting disadvantaged communities.
