Rafford Village Hall's Souper Thursdays brought the local community together during the winter - a time when locals are less able to access opportunities in Forres due to poor weather conditions, the absence of public transport and cost.
The village hall was opened to the community as a venue for sharing a free, healthy homemade lunch, meeting friends and neighbours, keeping in touch with local events, and stimulating conversations - all aimed at reducing social isolation.
We applied to Moray Local Action Fund because it was a grant that fitted our needs. We could work within the time framework that they were demanding. And it wasn’t a complicated form to fill in. And that was a godsend because you can spend hours and hours looking at forms, gathering paperwork, and still not be successful. This was right for us.
We’ve had a mix of people: some older, some working from home. We’ve had some volunteers from Marcassie Farm. Little clusters from around the community.
