River Course Engineering Consultancy

Moray Local Action Group funding helped the Speyside Environmental Partnership to commission a report into future erosion and flooding by the River Spey.

The project was to commission an experts report on the River Spey at Garmouth to detail the current situation of the river against historical records to determine the next steps/studies in a project looking at a major flood alleviation scheme.

The study also helped the partnership liaise with public services, utility companies and others to be able to calculate the costs incurred to local communities as a result of the erosion by the river, while projecting the total costs/losses to the community should the proposed project not go ahead. Commissioning the study also helped to draw in a number of public sector bodies and organisations that previously had not been willing to get involved.
